Konate Not Invited to NBA Draft Combine; Can Still Earn Trip after Receiving G League Combine Invitation

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 10, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to NBA.com, West Virginia University forward Sagaba Konate is not among the 60-plus draft eligible players invited to the NBA Draft Combine on May 16-17 in Chicago. The players chosen are those NBA scouts believe are most likely to be drafted in the 2019 NBA draft.

However, that doesn't mean the door is entirely shut for the 6'8 WVU shot blocker.

Konate did receive an invitation to the NBA G League Elite Camp. He was one of 40 draft eligible players that will join 40 current G League players at that combine.

The NBA Draft Combine will take a select number of draft-eligible players based on the performance of the players in the NBA G League Elite Camp. The G League event will take place May 12-14 at Quest Multisport.

Konate, a junior, can still return to West Virginia University.
