lots of memories, mostly good, about smiley, these from the years when he first came to bhs and I was a student and passionate basketball player. it's important to acknowledge his contributions beyond all the accolades and championships. I was a scrawny kid who loved being on his jv team and participating in every practice. I guess he didn't think I was as good as I thought I was because I didn't get into very many games. but I really enjoyed putting on the uniform and participating in the warm-ups. I received serious and skillful coaching at every practice and learned a lot of lessons for life from that, mostly from his very disciplined way. and he was a so-so social sciences teacher. not an area for which he is best remembered. but he maintained order. (smile) Thanks, Smiley.
