Developer: Market Place at Bridgeport Restaurant to Open Next Month; Other Projects in the Works

Things are continuing to progress at The Market Place at Bridgeport development along Jerry Dove Drive and an official involved with the project says a restaurant talked about previously should be opening next month.

Dave Biafora, the head of Metro Property Management handling the development, said he expects Don Patron to be open in October. The Mexican restaurant also has locations in Lewis County and Monongalia County,

“They’re just about ready to go,” said Biafora. “I’d say within the next month you’ll see it open. The main that’s needed is equipment. You can go by there now and see that it’s pretty close.”

This will mark the third business to open at the retail strip that is located just outside of Bridgeport’s city limits to the left of the main entrance to White Oaks on State Route 279. Anatomical Designs, which specializes in prosthetics and orthotics services, opened last year and The Countertop Store that focuses on kitchen and household items opened this year.

The retail strip building covers 21,000 square feet. Biafora confirmed that Crab Shack Caribb is still planned for the building, but didn’t have an exact time frame for the structure.

Those three businesses, however, weren’t the first. The first business was located in the three-story office building, which is in the city limits and directly beside the White Oaks entrance, is “Josie’s Hope,” which is under the banner of the United Summit Center.

Biafora said the other two floors are still empty. However, one of those floors he said he hopes to make an announcement about soon.

“There is another medical entity looking to take the middle floor. They have the lease and are getting ready to sign,” said Biafora.

Biafora didn’t say who it was, but said it wasn’t a business related to United Hospital Center. He added that the medical entity in question had “major medical presence statewide.”

Another development is a second office building that Biafora said will be two stories. He said there was nothing definitive on that building, but that they have clients they’re group is working with.

“It’s already designed so it’s definitely happening. We’re looking at anything new and would like to be going even quicker than we are now, but there’s been a little stall in the market,” said Biafora.  “We’ll pick that up soon and we’re confident you’ll see new business announcements soon.”

The group is also looking at a second retail strip building near the existing one that houses the aforementioned trio of businesses. That building, he said, would also be just outside the city limits.

“We’re proud of our development in Bridgeport and just outside of Bridgeport. We have development at the Market Place, Charles Pointe and we have residential development,” said Biafora.  “It’s all important and the new businesses going in, like Don Patron, helps all of the businesses feed off one another.”
