Featuring Food and Family Fun and a Lot More, New Meadowbrook Mall Business has Want You Seek

By Jeff Toquinto on October 21, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A corner inside of Meadowbrook Mall just got a whole lot more vibrant. It also probably smells pretty good in the area too.

Thanks to recent opening of Boardwalk Arcade and Confections, the area across from Marshall’s that was the former home of the arcade “Tilt” wasn’t vacant long. And if co-owners Mike Tressler, Rachel Robinson and Brad Waldo have any say in the matter, it probably won’t be vacant for a long time.

So what does the business offer? It offers exactly what the name suggests.

“The concept was to have a boardwalk experience that was all inclusive under one roof,” said Tressler. “It’s a place where entire families from age 0 to 99 can come and enjoy themselves.”

After a little more than a few weeks of being open (Sept. 28 was opening day), that appears to be the case. Meadowbrook Mall Property Manager Marcello Lalama is thrilled they’re part of the tenant lineup.

“It’s great to have filled that need,” said Lalama on going into the former Tilt site. “Not only does it replace the game room, but this is so much more. The have a party room available, they have a lot of unique foods and they have as their name suggests a lot of boardwalk type of activities. It’s really a lot more than just a game room.”

The party room, said Robinson, is one of the things they’re looking forward to seeing filled up on a regular basis.

“It’s a huge component of what we do,” she said. “People are already asking us about booking it. It’s really a nice room that seats up to 50 folks with a full-size retro refrigerator, a microwave and sink and an eight-foot buffet table.”

If you want to rent the room, it only costs $60 an hour and individuals can bring their own food to the event. They can also be served by some of the many food items offered at the new business.

They offer Fat Boys BBQ items, gourmet fudges and candies, including Sarris candies. There are funnel cakes, a Jelly Belly Jelly Bean Station, Hershey’s hand-dipped ice cream, handspun cotton candy made on site and boardwalk fries. There are also other items that are unique and available for purchase including scented food jewelry that is handmade in Minnesota.

There, of course, are plenty of arcade games. There are plenty of boardwalk style games. There is also something else.

“We have two pool tables,” said Robinson. “They’ve been pretty popular.”

Robinson said they hope to utilize the tables to enhance those coming to the location. She said, eventually, the plan is to hold pool tournaments as another component that will set them apart from the standard arcade.

“We really hope people stop in to see what they have because they’ve got so many unique things to offer,” Lalama said. “We’ve already had great feedback about the business and we even were getting positive feedback before they opened.”

The trio is making their first venture into the arcade and confection world. So far, the venture they say, has had great customer support. And they hope to see it continue.

“We’re already seeing many return customers. It’s astonishing the amount of support we’ve received and how we’ve been welcomed by the community,” Tressler said.
