First Month Numbers for New United Express Service at Airport Strong as Airline has No Cancellations

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 06, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The North Central West Virginia Airport today released passenger boarding numbers for November 2017 and the results are positive! United Express, operated by SkyWest Airlines, began jet service from the North Central West Virginia Airport on Nov. 1, 2017 and served over 2,000 passengers during the first month. Even more encouraging, SkyWest had absolutely no cancellations at CKB during this same time period; a first in the airport’s essential air service history.

“We knew SkyWest Airlines was one of the best regional jet operators in the country in terms of on-time performance and our first month’s service performance showcases why,” said Benedum Airport Authority Chair, Ron Watson. “The reliability they offer not only to the business customer, but to the leisure customer trying to reach their destination, is second to none.”

The United Express twice daily regional jet flights from CKB to Chicago O’Hare and Washington D.C., began connecting local travelers to the world through the United Airlines network this past November. In early August, the Department of Transportation selected SkyWest Airlines to be CKB’s new essential air service airline.

“We are encouraged by the positive reaction to our first month of flying into CKB,” said SkyWest Managing Director of Market Development Greg Atkin. “We hope to see more of the community utilizing the United Express service to Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles and seeing what SkyWest has to offer.”

SkyWest operates as United Express, providing full access to the United network, including baggage transfers, seamless bookings and connections around the world. CKB travelers who fly United can also accrue MileagePlus Miles as members of United’s MileagePlus loyalty program.

Tickets are available to purchase now at united.com or by calling United reservations at 800.864.8331. The lowest fares can always be found at www.united.com.

“For those who may have experienced a less than ideal situation in the past, we ask you to come back to the North Central West Virginia Airport and experience the outstanding reliability and customer service United Express provides,” said Airport Director Rick Rock. “Head over to united.com now to book your next trip. Once you fly them, we know you’ll love them.”
