Highly Anticipated Restaurant at Charles Pointe Nears Opening Date as Finishing Touches Put in Place

It’s been a little more than two years since plans were discussed publicly on the possibility of a new regionally based and highly popular restaurant to locate at Charles Pointe. It definitely won’t be two more years before it opens.

Although an opening date has not yet been set, Mountain State Brewing Company will be opening sooner as opposed to later. And it’s “definitely” going to be before the end of the year, according to Chad Bartlett.

“We’re close. We’ve got a few things to clean up and some permits and licenses that are in the works to finish out, but you can see it’s not far away,” said Bartlett, who will be heading up the new location in Bridgeport.

Bartlett is correct. The inside is closer to a punch list than one of breaking ground. Tables are in place in some places, stacked in others and the setup is complete in many areas. The new business, however, has much more than beer on the menu and is a family friendly environment.

“This is a place everyone can enjoy,” said Bartlett. “We’re particularly pleased with how things are coming together inside and the views, the reason we wanted this location, are terrific. Heck, the contractors even love the view and are taking their breaks out there.”

The views are for part of a large outside seating area that oversees State Route 279 and several wooded areas along the roadway. Bartlett said it may not be open immediately due to a chance coming in the weather, but added that he has quotes on a covering for that area if they opt to go in that direction for rainy or cold weather.

“We’ve got what we wanted here and we’re confident people will like what we have,” said Bartlett. “The menu is going to be identical to our Morgantown location.”

The menu features wood-fired pizzas as their most known item, which are hand-tossed. There are wood-fired sandwiches on the menu as well as regular sandwiches, salads, appetizers, desserts and more.

“We’re playing with some new toys as far as the ovens and that will likely be a little bit of a learning curve on how quickly we can fire off the pizzas, but it’s going to be the quality product that people are familiar with us expect,” said Bartlett.

Beers will also be featured from their own brewery as well as craft beers from around West Virginia. Bartlett said they will also have a selection of bottled beers to go along with the drafts on tap.

“We will have a 12-tap system, which can be expanded into a 24-tap system,” said Bartlett. “With the craft beer we try to keep it primarily to West Virginia based beers.”

The food and drink will be all part of the new building situated near the Fairmont Federal Credit Union and across the road from the new Harrison County 911 building at Charles Pointe. It covers roughly 6,950 square feet.

The new Bridgeport site will mark the third location beyond the one in Morgantown and in Deep Creek, Md. The restaurant serves many brands of its own beer and the actual brewery is in Davis.
