New Restaurant South of Bridgeport has Standard Fare as Well as Options Not Available Elsewhere

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 09, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

For those visiting Bridgeport who have already sampled the city's fare or those who are residents of the city and beyond looking for a trip for a new culinary experience, here's the latest edition of WBOY's Restaurant Road Trip. And this one, which opened just a few weeks ago, is about 45 minutes south of Bridgeport in Buckhannon.

FROM WBOY

Located inside the Buckhannon Moose Lodge on North Kanawha Street, B&L Friendly Kitchen has only been open for a couple of weeks, but staff there already hard at work trying to make their restaurant live up to its name, aspiring to be something like the Cheers of Buckhannon.

"When you come in here, we're very friendly to everybody.  We like to get to know people on a first name basis, so you're not just a customer, you're more to us than that," said owner Lana Luby.

The menu includes a list of great American food, as well as a variety of daily specials that keep something different on the table for guests each day.  But Luby is also trying to fill a need in Buckhannon, offering gluten-free options to her guests.  While a gluten-free diet has been growing more popular, it's also hard for those people who need it to find many different options.  But at B&L, the options are much wider.

"I have to eat gluten-free and she has been really good about getting things in for me, different things, and I just really appreciate it and the food is awesome," said restaurant patron Marie Woodyard.
