Snapshot: Live Music at Clarksburg Rose Garden from 1986 with Hope Same Outfit to Return to Facility

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 01, 2017 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Thanks to our friends at the City of Clarksburg and Marketing and Community Relations Specialist Dominique Medina Spatafore, Connect-Bridgeport will occasionally run photos from the City of Clarksburg's Web site for the restoration of the old Robinson Grand that will soon open as the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. The Web site is "therobinsongrand.com" and is hyperlinked below.

This is part of their "Snapshots of History" on their site, which also includes regular construction updates of the project and more. This week's snapshot, or rather snapshots, comes from August of 1985, during the theater's Rose Garden era. It shows the event program and crew setting up for Mountain Stage, which was held at the Rose Garden. Mountain Stage with Larry Groce has been the home of live music on public radio for more than 30 years. The show is produced in West Virginia and distributed nationally by NPR. Mountain Stage features performances across a wide array of genres that includes: folk, blues, country, indie rock, synth pop, world music, alternative, and many more. Many of their shows are now held at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, but some are at various venues throughout the area. The City of Clarksburg hopes to bring Mountain Stage back to the city and the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center after renovations are completed.
