With Arrival of Holiday Shopping Season for Area, Mall Announces Presence of Several New Businesses

This time next weekend, Meadowbrook Mall will have two types of people inside of it. Those who love the rush of the official start of the holiday season and those wondering why they didn’t stay home.

It’s nothing new for the mall. Yet those who are heading out to the mall for the upcoming holiday shopping season – or even in the days before – they’ll be greeted with something new. According to Meadowbrook Mall Property Manager, the Bridgeport retail hub has welcomed four holiday Christmas additions.

“We’re always glad to add the holiday businesses, whether it’s in an open storefront or by way of a kiosk,” said Lalama. “The businesses fill niches and offer certain products and gifts meeting needs that provide the type of gifts, or holiday gifts, the consumer is seeking.”

The mall’s four holiday business arrivals feature some common names, one returning business and one new business name. And the most notable even has a change to it.

Hickory Farms is once again back at the mall and Lalama said it is the one many shoppers are waiting for. This year, the business has relocated from their typical position to a new one.

“They’re near the entrance down by Ulta,” said Lalama. “We’ve actually put signs up directing shoppers where they are located because it’s always in demand.”

While many of the products are the same, the kiosk the business will be utilizing won’t be the same. Lalama said the kiosk is a new prototype offering the company’s latest look.

Another return visitor to the mall is in the former Toys ‘R’ Us location that was in the mall for a couple of recent years. Go Calendars, Games & Toys is utilizing that space.

“They’ve done good business during the holidays and we’re glad to see them back,” said Lalama.

There is also T-Shirt Corner. The holiday addition was not at the mall in 2017, but this isn’t the businesses first rodeo.

“They have been here previously. We’re certainly glad to have them back,” said Lalama.

The last business mentioned is the only one Lalama said is completely new to the facility. Christmas Town is the new one in the mix.

“As the name suggests they add special gift ideas for the holidays from stocking stuffers to much larger items. They also feature plenty of Christmas items,” said Lalama. “They’re bringing ornament gifts and decorations that many are searching for. We think they’ll be a nice addition this season.”
