Stonewall Resort to Host Independence Weekend

Weston, WV (June 2013) – It doesn’t get much more “American” than celebrating the Independence Weekend holiday outdoors with country music and fireworks! Stonewall Resort will serve them up in bold fashion as part of the McFly Outdoors Summer Concert Series on Saturday, July 6 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with hot country music by Rustic Highway and the folk country sounds of James Archer, resort officials announced.

Steve Ludwig, director of sales and marketing at Stonewall Resort, said, “The Stonewall State Park Foundation is proud to host these local stars for our fourth of eight concerts this summer and we encourage the public to come out and enjoy the show.” Ludwig said the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by Grafton, West Virginia singer/songwriter James Archer. At 7:30 p.m. Rustic Highway – a group that describes themselves as “a modern country band with a twist of bluegrass and a dash of Texas” will take the stage. This Morgantown-based, five person band offers “a blend of original music and the styles of Urban, Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Dierks, and Cash offering the perfect music for that top down or steel horse ride through the hills of West Virginia and beyond.” The concert is provided through the generous donations by McFly Outdoors and will be held on the Roanoke Activity Plaza Lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The fireworks show will take place at approximately 9:30 p.m. over Stonewall Jackson Lake. Some of the best views of the fireworks show can be found on the Pedestrian Boardwalk, which can be accessed a short walk from the Roanoke Activity Plaza. There is a $5 per car admission fee to enter Stonewall Resort State Park on July 6th. Once inside the park grounds, there is no cost to attend the concert or fireworks.
