California stone carver Frank Maurer, using only a mallet and chisel, has hand carved a Tartan Stone native to each state and has traveled the US providing each with a Stone specific to their state.
During the ceremony he covers some of his personal life history, his Scottish genealogy, his DNA history and the history and future development of the Tartan Day celebrations.
Randall Reid-Smith, Commissioner of West Virginia Division of Culture and History, is planning on attending and will be reading a short proclamation from the Governor. The stone will be given to the State and we, the Scottish Heritage Society of North Central West Virgina, are the custodians.
Please try to attend this very special ceremony.
