About The Benedum Brass:
The Benedum Brass formed in 2008 when a few members of the Shinnston Community Band were looking for a way to involve them and their children in more music performance activities in the local community. Our instrumentation roughly follows a standard brass quintet: 2 trumpets, a french horn, a trombone and a tuba. However, we usually add baritones, euphoniums, and sometimes, an occasional flute or clarinet joins in. We have played for public library activities, Christmas programs, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The Benedum Brass has been helped by several grants from the Clarksburg Harrison Cultural Foundation and the Sacred Heart Children's Center, which has enabled us to acquire more music to play. Over the years, children have grown up and "graduated" from the group, and others have grown up and filled their places. We currently involve several high-school students in our performances. Upcoming events include Christmas performances at the Bridgeport Public Library (Dec 12, 6:30pm), the Clarksburg Trolley (Dec 20, 6--9pm), and a live Nativity at St. Mark's in Clarksburg (Dec 22, Time TBD: see www.benedumbrass.com).
