Sports are an integral part of our experience now and many people are not aware that sports were a part of life during the Civil War. One of the pastimes of the soldiers was baseball and we will host a game played in vintage uniforms with 1863 rules between the Pittsburgh Franklins and the Fulton Mules of Ohio. The game will be held in an open field near our Bridgeport Recreation baseball complex where a youth Triple Crown Tournament will also be taking place. Vendors, concessions and parking will be available for the attendees. Baseball enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see the origins of the game. All of us will see the connection that has continued for 150 years and helped shape the national character. This demonstrates to our residents that we love sports and will play them anywhere and anytime, even 150 years ago.
Civil War oriented vendors and displayers will also be a part of the festivities. The evening will end with FIREWORKS!
