Video: Candidates for Mayor Speak Out

Close to 100 members of the community turned out for Thursday night's “Meet Your Candidates” event sponsored by the GFWC Woman’s Club of Bridgeport. Held at the Benedum Civic Center, the event featured candidates for the upcoming June 11 municipal election. Those running for Bridgeport City Council are Diana Marra, John Wilson and Robert Greer, incumbents, as well as Lowell “LJ” Maxey and David Claprood. Due to a prior commitment, Greer was unable to participate tonight and was represented by his son, Joseph Greer. Also present and participating were City of Bridgeport mayor candidates Mario Blount, current city recorder; Chuck Lindsey and Mike Fresa.
Each candidate introduced him/herself, then responded to questions asked by audience members; those questions pertaining to issues including everything from city street maintenance to Charles Pointe development to the importance of family values.
