A 2025 graduate of Bridgeport High School, Miya Swiger has been selected as the West Virginia Future Farmers of America National Officer Candidate. If elected to serve on the national team, Swiger will relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana, and spend the next year traveling across the country representing the National FFA Association, advocating for agriculture, and visiting various FFA chapters and state FFA associations.
Swiger will spend the next several months preparing for various interviews, workshops, and tests that will take place during the nomination committee process at the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo at the end of October.
Each state association selects one current or past state officer to represent the state in the running for a National Officer position. Swiger, who currently holds the WV FFA State Secretary position, was selected to represent West Virginia during a process which took place in May during which she and two other potential candidates presented workshops and went through an interview process and presented written documentation.
The National FFA has six officers: One president, four vice presidents and one secretary.
Swiger also formerly served as the FFA North Central Region Vice President. She attends West Virginia University, where she is studying agriculture extension and education at the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, National Resources and Design.
