Bridgeport Alum Emilia Underwood Earns Mountain East Conference Weekly Award

The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.Glenville State’s Savannah Duckworth has been named the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Player of the Week while fellow Lady Pioneer Emilia Underwood has been named the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Specialist of the Week.
Underwood, a senior base/tumbler from Bridgeport, West Virginia and Bridgeport High alum, a tosser and catcher for heat 1 pyramid for the extended high hand in hand catch in cradle.
She is also the tosser and catcher for heat 2 pyramid 270 up 360 down, and the tosser and catcher for heat 3 270 up flip to ground.
Heat 1 was a season high and heat 2 and 3 tied the season high.
Duckworth, a senior top/tumbler from Worthington, West Virginia and East Fairmont graduate, is a top for compulsory Acro, pyramid and toss.
She helped GSU score two of the highest scores of the night in compulsory pyramid and inversion pyramid both scoring a 9.75.
She is also the top for a 10 SV for 5 element Acro performing a toe pitch full off, high hand in hand assisted.
She is also the top for inversion pyramid performing a high hand in hand unassisted.
She is the top for heat 1 toss performing our highest value toss a back double, and heat 2 a top for the back full.
While in tumbling she is in trio with a whip whip BHS BHS full and in aerial pass with a 10 SV doing a whip whip full BHS BHS full.
In the Team event, she does it all.
A top for a 10 SV pyramid performing the straddle, she has 3 standing tumbling passes a 10-pass aerial tuck 2 BHS to full, a 9.85 2 tuck 2 hand full, and BHS BHS full.
She is the top for an inversion stack pop off, and the top for a toe pitch full off, 2 tosses one being a back tuck and the other a kick back full, and 2 running tumbling passes a RD BHS full and a whip whip full. She helped GSU get 7 season highs.
