Off the Shelf: Summer 2026 Reading Finale at Hand

By Angela Spatafore on July 15, 2026

We are less than two weeks away from the end of summer reading, but we still have lots of stories left to unearth. It is still not too late to join summer reading 2026, Unearth a Story, online at bplwv.beanstack.org or on paper by visiting the library’s Help Desk. We still have a few summer reading registration bags left. If you have not picked up your bag yet, we still have a few bags available, so be sure to stop by the library to get yours while supplies last.

All tickets need to be turned in by Friday, July 24 to be counted in the prize drawings. We will give out prizes at the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, July 25 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Deegan and Hinkle Lakes Park. We will celebrate the end of Summer Reading with yard games, snacks, and games. Registration is NOT required for the Finale. We will be set up at one of the park pavilions by the playground. Can’t make it to the Finale but received a phone call or email saying you won a prize? We will continue to hand out prizes at the library from Monday, July 27 through Saturday, August 8.

Join us before the Summer Reading Finale at the library for a fun, all-ages Acting Workshop from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Learn how to bring your stories into the spotlight with Do Art Productions! In this interactive workshop, patrons learn how facial expressions, emotions, and body language can shape the audience's perception of a character.  You will have the opportunity to explore facial expressions, emotions, and body language by participating in improv scenarios. Confidence, self-expression, and collaboration are encouraged! Registration for the Acting Workshop is open on our website: https://www.bplwv.org/event/16767865

While summer reading is coming to an end, we still have tons of fun things coming to the library, and we hope you will continue to join us through the fall and winter. We have new reading challenges in the works that will be coming to our Beanstack site soon, so be sure to keep logging your minutes! Plus, every minute you read and log gets us closer to our million-minute community reading goal. All the minutes logged just over summer reading helped us jump to nearly 50% of that goal. Happy reading, and we hope you had a great summer reading season!
