Meet this week's City Face, Melinda Oliverio.

 

What brought you to Bridgeport?

My family moved to Bridgeport in 1988. We wanted a good education for our sons.

 

Tell me about your family ...

I have been married to Paul B Oliverio for 38 years. We have two sons, Michael, an attorney in Cranberry Township, and his wife Laura, a school physiologist,

and Bobby, a physical therapist in Morgantown. I have one granddaughter, Alle who is 8 years old. She is super smart and funny. Bobby is engaged to Jessica Costello, a pediatric nurse practitioner in Morgantown.

 

What about pets?

We have a little rescue dog Zoey. She is a terrier mix that we adopted 10 years ago from the Harrison County Humane Society.

 

Where do you work and what do you do there?

I work for Edward Jones Investments, Drew Robenstein’s Office in Fairmont. I am the Branch Office Administrator. I handle the front office. Drew and I work as a team. I love being able to help people and working with the public.

What are your favorite pasttimes?

My hobbies are cooking, especially baking, reading, walking, spending time with my granddaughter and going on adventures with my husband and the dog.

 

What is your favorite spot in our city?

My favorite spots are Bridgeport Library and City Park. We go to the library every week and walk Zoey at the park most days year round.

 

What do you like about Bridgeport?

Bridgeport is a great place to live. It has great schools, people and it’s a close-knit community. People support one another here and you feel safe.

 

Tell me about a favorite memory here ...

One of my favorite memories is the spaghetti dinners the senior moms would fix for the football players when my son Bobby was a senior. We loved the camaraderie  and boy could those boys eat! Another great memory is the Light Up the Night celebration in December. You see so many people, it’s like a reunion and such a “small town America” event I just love it.

 

What is your favorite spots outside of Bridgeport?

We like to go to Valley Falls State Park and Myrtle Beach and also the Orlando, Fla. area. My family has been there for 40 years and we fly down on the flight out of Bridgeport.

 

What are a few of your favorite things?

My favorite things are my granddaughter, a good cup of coffee, walking my dog, pizza, and riding our Harley motorcycle when I can. My favorite restaurant is Oliverio’s or the Social Tap. My favorite color is blue and my favorite music is contemporary Christian.

 

What is your best childhood memory?

My best childhood memory is boating at Tygart lake. My dad was president of the boat club for 14 years. We had a houseboat and spent every weekend there from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

 

Tell me something else about you that  you would like to add ...

I really want to help in my community. I support the mission, Celebrate Recovery and Shepherds Corner. When I retire, I plan to do more. I love animals and hope to volunteer at the Humane Society.
