City Faces in Different Places

This week's City Face is Andrea Reppert. Learn all about her here:

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.
I have lived in Bridgeport a little over 4 years. My husband is a lifelong resident and most of our family resides here as well. It was an easy decision to move here to be closer to family.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
Jasen and I have been married about 5.5 years, but have been together about 20 years. We met in high school and he has been part of my family ever since.  We both come from large families. I am the oldest of 8 kids. All but 2 of them live in Bridgeport, so we are very close. I also have 3 sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, and father-in-law that live here and get to spend time with.

What about pets?
We have 3 fur babies. We have 2 maltese dogs Bojangles and Gunner, who just turned 10 yrs old. They have the biggest personalities for such little dogs. They are our kids and we love spoiling them. We also have a cat Blizzard. We rescued her from a tree during the blizzard of 2016. We aren’t sure about her age, so we just celebrate her birthday as her “gotcha day”. She is slowly warming up to us and has liked becoming an indoor cat. She still doesn’t like to go out if it has snowed.

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I work at Bridgeport Physical Therapy as a PTA (physical therapy assistant). I started at the main clinic in Bridgeport, but moved to the new location at White Oaks less than a year ago. A typical day consists of helping patients with exercises and hands on treatment to help with pain and movement. I love getting to meet new people and see them get back to their normal activities.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
Well, if you would’ve asked this prior to the pandemic, I would have said traveling, going to the movies, and outdoor activities. I was able to continue my outdoor activities, but traveling is still on hold.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
I like to walk the dogs down to the park or on the trail. It’s always so peaceful and nice to see others out doing the same thing.
What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?

I love the accessibility of everything. I can walk my dogs down to the park, or walk to the schools for games/activities, or walk downtown and go shopping and have lunch.

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...
I remember my family gathering at my great grandparents house when I was little. They had a long, covered patio that everyone would gather under. They had a tree in their yard that was perfect to hang from and climb on. It was always so much fun to hang out with the cousins. Looking back, it was a lot of people for such a small house, but it was the best of times.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
I love going to WVU football and basketball games with my family.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?
Key West, FL. We take a girls trip with my mom and sisters every year. I also got married there, so it holds a special place in my heart.
What are some of your favorite things?

I love cuddling with my fur babies, the beach, summer, cookouts and badminton tournaments with my family and Saturday brunches.
Food/restaurant?

I could never pick just one. We have so much amazing food in this area. I think I could eat pizza every meal of the day, but I also love a good grilled chicken salad.

Favorite color?
Either blue or purple. I love them both.

Music genre/artist?
I can listen to just about anything. I usually have it on The Message in my car or when I need some positivity. My workout playlist has everything from 70s-present.

What is your best childhood memory?
When my grandma would fix breakfast. She would make homemade pancakes and syrup with link sausages on her table top electric griddle. If we were extra good, we got to flip the pancakes! We have tried to replicate her syrup, but it just isn’t the same.

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
If I ever won the lottery, I would open a rescue animal farm.
