How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.

 

I have lived in Bridgeport for 20 years.  I grew up in CT and went to Rutgers for a BA in Economics and minor in Psychology.  After graduation, I went to work ins ales for Duracell, Inc and moved to Boston.  After a year and a half I moved to WV to begin a biotech career with Centocor, Inc.

 

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.

 

Married to Mike Romano of 20 years and have 2 children:  Emma, 17, Michael, 13

 

What about pets?

 

We have multiple rescues- 1 cat, Madeline who is 22 years old.  3 dogs- Tylee (12), Nicky (6), Sunny (5)

 

Where do you work and what do you do there?

 

In my previous life, I was in Biotech for 12 years and was a Division Sales manager for Genentech specializing in Infectious Disease.  I covered 5 states and had 12 direct reports.  As we had kids and Mike decided to get into politics, I wasn’t able to travel as much for work so I began working at our law office as the Manager of Operations.

 

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?

 

Gardening, Spending time at the lake or beach

 

Favorite Bridgeport spot? 

 

My porch!  Its got a great view of the lakes and is the perfect place to unwind.

 

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?  

 

Bridgeport is just the right size- plenty to do but yet small enough you run into people you know all the time

 

One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...

 

Taking the kids to the pool and watching them go off the slide or high dive for the first time.  Scary and exciting all at once.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?

 

My mother in law’s apartment in Nutter Fort.  She was an amazing woman and I enjoyed being with her, learning from her and spending lots of family time together.

 

How about your favorite place outside of WV?

 

The beach- we vacation in Cape May every year with 120 people.  We have been going with people we met 45 years ago when we were babies.  We have all grown up together and continue to visit/ talk during the year and get together each July for  the best week ever.

 

What are some of your favorite things?

 

Cooking- I love to cook and have family dinners with our extended family. 

 

Watching the kids grow up -  too fast

That’s a tough one.  My playlist is crazy…it goes from James Taylor to Alabama to Aeorosmith to YBN   

 

What is your best childhood memory?

 

Boogie boarding in cape May

Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…

 

I launched Tamiflu back in the 90’s…so when I heard pandemic I had lots already prepared.  And I believe I was the first one to be sure I had toilet paper well stocked!

 

I was the former director of the Cert Team for several years, was an active GFWC Juniors for close to a decade and just wrapped up a state chair position and local chair of the Juniorettes.
