City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on April 10, 2022 from City Faces via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This week's Bridgeport City Face is Stephanie Scott. Meet her and learn about her, her family and her connection to our city:

Tell me about you and your family (and pets!) and how long you've lived in Bridgeport.
My husband Tommy and I moved to Bridgeport with our two children in June of 2015. We will celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary in May. Our daughter Payton is a freshman and actively involved in BHS theatre. Parker is in 5th grade at Johnson Elementary, he takes jiu jitsu lessons and plays soccer. We have two dogs, Reese and Chaplin. Chaplin is the baby of the family, he is not quite two years old and has a ton of personality. Reese is five years old and Payton is definitely her favorite person. They like to sleep in together on the weekends.
If you have a significant other, tell us how you met.

Tommy and I met at work in 2005. A mutual friend/coworker introduced us and we were engaged within three months. We later learned that our Aunts were best friends, and he had been to my grandma’s ceramic shop on many occasions when he was younger.

Why do you like it here?
We love the small town feel and comfort that Bridgeport offers. It’s a wonderful place to raise a family and everyone looks after each other.
We are blessed with amazing neighbors and friends in the area. We don’t have family here, but our friends have become like family.

What's your favorite event here in our city?
My favorite event in here is without a doubt, Light Up Night! It reminds me of a Hallmark movie.

What about a spot that you frequent?
We can be found at Bridgeport Country Club a lot, especially in the summer. The kids and I love going to the pool and my husband enjoys golfing.

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I am employed at Berkshire Hathaway GT&S where I work as a Human Resources Business Partner.

What are some of your favorite pasttimes and hobbies?
Some of my fondest memories are NYC and beach trips as a family. We are foodies so we love going to new restaurants and trying new things. My hobbies include reading and traveling. We also love going to museums and the Met is our favorite to date.

Do you have any goals - personal or professional - either shortterm or longterm?
Professional goals include getting acclimated in my new role. Personal goal is to travel more often.

Tell us about one of your favorite Bridgeport memories.
One of my favorite memories was watching the BHS Theatre cast perform The Seussical. It was my daughter’s first performance and she had so much fun. The entire cast is extremely talented and they did an amazing job.

What are your favorite area foods/restaurants?
For date night we frequently go to Oliverio’s or the Wonder Bar. Family nights we love going to El Rey, they have the best salsa!

What tunes are on your playlist?
There is a mix of artists and genres on my playlist including: but not limited to Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Adele and Maroon 5.

What about favorite movies or TV shows? Are you streaming anything now or have recently that you recommend?
I just finished “Inventing Anna” on Netflix. My favorite movies are “The Thomas Crown Affair” and “Blood Diamond."

If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Oh, that’s so hard to name just one. It’s a toss-up between Italy and the Seychelles.

What is one or more of your past favorite vacations?
One of my favorite vacations is going to Charleston, SC. We used to live there so it was nice to go back and visit our favorite beach spots and restaurants. Isle of Palms beach will also hold a special place in my heart.

What is an interesting tidbit about you?
I was born in the backseat of my parents' Volvo on Bolt Mountain in Oceana, WV.
