BHS Student Council to Raise Funds for Breast Cancer Screenings at Game Friday

By Trina Runner on October 11, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bridgeport High School Student Council will be selling pink Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets at the home football game against Elkins on Friday.  Bracelets will be sold for $1.00 in the stands before the game and during halftime.

Students will also be selling pink Breast Cancer Ribbon temporary tattoos at the student tailgate prior to the game. The cost will be two for $1.00.

All proceeds from the sale of the bracelets and tattoos will benefit Bonnie’s Bus, a mobile mammography unit that travels throughout West Virginia offering breast cancer screenings. The bus serves women who have private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, as well as those who are under or uninsured. No woman over 40 years old is ever turned away and Bonnie’s Bus has provided nearly 18,000 mammograms and detected at least 80 cases of breast cancer.

In addition to Friday's sale, BHS Student Council has held bake sales during lunches all week and will be contributing those proceeds to Bonnie's Bus as well.
