Time Travel: A Once Vibrant Main Street Motel and a Clarksburg Police Swearing in Ceremony from 1984
By Dick Duez on September 27, 2026 from History Blog
If this looks familiar, it should. You can still see this structure on Main Street that for many years was home to The Roth Motel and guest house. If you have any memories of this former business, please leave a remark on our social media pages.
A trio of new Clarksburg officers, starting second from left - Russ Swiger, Marshall Goff, and Mark E. Waggamon Sr. - are sworn in back in the mid-1980s by Mildred A. Zink, far left. The last two pictured, are Police Chief Thomas Durrett and City Manager Patsy Trecost. Photo is courtesy of Mark Waggamon.
