Time Travel: Bridgeport High Band Patrons from 1996 and Route 50 Pit Stops East of City Prior to I-79

By Dick Duez on September 08, 2019 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo is from the 1996 Bridgeport High School football program and was provided by Alum Tim Casten. The photo is of the 1996-97 Bridgeport High School Band Patron Officers. Shown, from left, are Amy Maxey, Terri Payez, Jane Dussart, Vickie Murphy, Terri Clacko, and Diane Snell.
Although the exact date of this photo is unknown, it was taken many years before the construction of Interstate 79 when U.S. Route 50 was still one of the main ways travelers found their way in and out of Bridgeport. This place, east of Bridgeport near Red House, Maryland, is the Backbone Mountain Inn where you could spend the night, get something to eat or pick up a gift or trinket.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
