Time Travel: City Private Phone Lines being Converted in 1953 and a 1910 Suspension Bridge in Ziesing

By Dick Duez on February 12, 2023 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Who can remember the convergence of telephone party and non-party lines at the intersection of Main Street and Center Street? For those that remember it, the lines were a bit of a mess, and for those who do not remember it, here you go. If you look among the mess of wires, there is a man on the pole. He is a worker from the old C&P Telephone Company and is converting lines from the old Bridgeport Telephone Company to all private lines.
This photo shows an old suspension bridge in Harrison County as it crosses over the West Fork River. The bridge was located in Ziesing, or Spelter. Two well-dressed men can be seen near the steps to the bridge on the far left of the photo that was taken in 1910.
