Time Travel: Different Looking Section of Main Street in 1987 and Pike Street in Clarksburg in the 1940s

By Dick Duez on September 15, 2024 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The road shown here is Main Street in Bridgeport and is from 1987. If your are not sure where, the road to the left going up the hill is Davis Street. The two homes shown on the right are no longer there, nor is the Chevron service station. Today, the strip is home to Cava and Banko, the Dan Cava Building (which includes China One) and Allied Health Solutioins.
This photo from the late 1940s, or possibly early 1950s, shows heavy traffic on Pike Street in Clarksburg. Today, one of the businesses to the left would be Subway and another would be Rokisky's. Toward the middle, Wendy's is situated there today.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dickdo@citynet.net
