Time Travel: Route 50 Aerial in City from Many Years Ago and 1907 Mail Service in Pocahontas County

By Dick Duez on April 27, 2025 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This photo, courtesy of Mike Corder, shows U.S. Route 50 at the bottom of the page running almost the length of the photo. In the middle is the Towne House East Motel, which was recently demolished and to its right is Twin Oaks. To the left is the former Mike Davis Garden Center that also was demolished and is now home to a car wash facility. The buiding in the lower left of the photo is today home to MrEyeDr. At this time, it was likely home to one of several restauratns. In the background of the left, are some of the remnants of the Ellis Drive-In.
This photo shows a mail carrier in Hillsboro, Pocahontas County from 1907. As you can see, things are a bit more modern today.
