Addison Veigel and Jacob Keener Named as October 2025 Bridgeport High School Students of the Month

Bridgeport High School Principal Renee' Mathews has announced that Addison Veigel and Jacob Keener are the October, 2025 Students of the Month. Below is a profile of each student.
Addison Veigel is the daughter of Bill and Abby Veigel, and sister of Annie Veigel, a freshman at BHS.
Throughout her time at BHS, Addison has taken immense pride in her academics. She has been an honor roll student every semester at
BHS, receiving academic letters and lamps each year. She was proud to be inducted into the National Honor Society and currently serves as the group’s treasurer and is also a member of Spanish Honor Society. She has taken seven AP courses and has earned college credit for each AP exam she has taken thus far. In addition to AP courses, she is currently taking dual credit college courses and has taken honors-level classes as well.
In recognition of her hard work, Addison has received the AP Scholar with Distinction award and the National Rural and Small-Town Award from College Board. She has earned the West Virginia Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. Also, during her freshman year, she attended Harrison County Math Field Day where she placed third, advancing to Regional Math Field Day.
Outside of the classroom, Addison is involved in many extracurricular activities. She has been a member of Student Council, Key Club, Spanish Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a member of Model UN where she serves on the executive board. Addison also takes great pride in her athletics. She has been a member of the BHS volleyball and softball teams every year of high school. She is currently a team captain of the volleyball team. She was a member of the BHS volleyball team that won the AAA state championship in 2024 and has received All-State, All-Conference, and All-County honors in volleyball and softball. She is also a member of Mountain State Storm Volleyball Club and WV Renegades softball.
Addison enjoys being an active member of her community where she has engaged in various volunteer activities. She is also an active member of Ridge View Church in Bridgeport where she serves on the media team.
Upon graduation, Addison plans to attend Fairmont State University where she will continue both her academic and volleyball careers. Addison is extremely grateful for the continuous support from teachers, staff, and coaches at Bridgeport High School and her family and friends.
Jacob Keener is the son of Bruce Keener and Charlene Keener and brother of Bruce Keener II.
During Jacob’s time at Bridgeport High School, he has always pushed himself academically while continuing to involve himself in community activities and as a member of the swim, tennis and soccer teams.
Keener has been part of the honor roll, maintained a 4.0 GPA, and has received a letter and two lamps for academics.
Upon graduation, he will have completed 3 AP courses those being AP Statistics, AP Physics, and AP Calculus AB and will be a completer of the BHS aerospace program.
In school he is a member of the BHS Spanish Club, Key Club, Model UN, and National Honors Society, where he is currently the vice-president.
He is a 4 year varsity member of the BHS Swim and Tennis teams and was a state swim champion his junior year. Jacob was named Harrison county swimmer of the year his sophomore year. In August , Jacob decided to come back his senior year and play soccer as well.
In the fall, Jacob plans to attend flight school at Fairmont State University.
