By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 18, 2026
Bridgeport High School was named to the 2025 AP School Honor Roll. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP program are delivering results and broadening participation for students.
Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing their school’s college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. Bridgeport High School was Bronze Honor Roll for 2023 and 2024 but they are proud to announce for 2025 they are Silver for AP Honor Roll.
Bridgeport High School had 56% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 44% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 9% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams.
Bridgeport High School offers: AP Literature, AP English Language, AP Drawing, AP 2D art, AP 3D art, AP Music Theory, AP US History, AP Government, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics I, AP Chemistry and AP Biology. These courses are taught by a group of dedicated certified teachers: Mrs. Amy Lohmann, Mr. Brian Elliott, Mrs. Thompson, Mr. Friend, Mr. Kimble, Mr. Lister, Ms. Hathaway, Mr. Howard, Mrs. McCarthy and Mrs. Kimball.
“At Bridgeport High School, I couldn’t be prouder of my students who challenge themselves with AP courses. These classes offer far more than the opportunity to earn college credit - they cultivate a lifelong work ethic rooted in perseverance, responsibility, and a commitment to excellence. And thank you to the Class of 2025 for their commitment to their education," said Mrs. Renee Mathews, BHS Principal.
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 40 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have sought the most challenging curriculum available to them, and research indicates that students who score a 3 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a college degree than non-AP students.
