Bridgeport High School Dance Team Coach Terri Kress was pleased with the Dance Team’s Dancing Star Clinic, held Jan. 16.

 

Nearly 40 young girls participated, learning a dance routine from members of the BHS Dance Team. The aspiring dancers then had opportunity to showcase their newly-learned skills Thursday evening, Jan. 19, during the halftime performance at the Indians varsity basketball game against Phillip Barbour. 

 

Spectators voted for dance contestants by purchasing votes for $1 each in the school cafeteria. Tiny Dancing Star (ages 4-7) and Dancing Star (ages 8-11) winners and runners-up were announced after their performance.

 

Jade Harris was crowned the Tiny Dancing Star Winner, and Runner-Up was Brinzlee Dieringer.

 

Jordyn Lawson was crowned the Miss Dancing Star Winner, and Runner-Up was Jaci Bush. 

 

Winners will have the privilege of escorting the BHS Dance Team in the 2023 BHS Homecoming Parade.

 

The clinic served as a fundraiser for the Dance Team, which performs at various BHS athletic events and competes near the end of the performance season. 

 

"We are very appreciative of the dancers, their parents and families," Kress said. "We had a great turnout and look forward to continuing this tradition next year."
