Bridgeport Woman who Served as a Teacher for Three Decades, Renalda V. Winkie, Passes Away at Age 83

Renalda V. Winkie, 83 of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at her home.  She was born on October 22, 1941 in New York, NY, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Rose (Marcinik) DuBay.
 
Renalda graduated from Woodbury High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Glassboro State College. She was an art teacher for the Riverside School District in New Jersey, teaching Pre-K – 6th grade, for 30 years. Renalda was a passionate art enthusiast and dedicated educator who found joy in inspiring others through creativity. She was an avid reader who also loved to explore new cultures and places with traveling. Renalda was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for 15 years.
 
Renalda is survived by her husband of 63 wonderful years, Paul Winkie, whom she married on August 11, 1962; two children: Lanette Prosseda and spouse Lt. Col Phillip of CO, and Kenneth A. Winkie of Bridgeport; grandchildren: Bethany Lechner and spouse Michael, Olivia Dean and spouse Logan, Dr. Colin Winkie and spouse Dr. Missy Winkie, Dr. Mason Winkie and spouse Dr. Spencer Winkie, Dr. Mitchell Winkie and spouse Abigail, Lauren Winkie and fiancé Brandon Warn, and Carson Winkie; great-grandchildren: Elijah Dean, Sophia Lechner, and Fletcher Winkie; two siblings, Rudolph DuBay of FL, and Rhonda Janitch and spouse Steven of NC.
 
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery at a later date.
