City Municipal Building Continues Business, but Doors Locked as COVID-19 Mitigation Effort Continues

Since December 21st, the City of Bridgeport has been operating with reduced staffing at City Hall and in some other City Offices, with people working from home and rotating in and out of the office. This is in an effort to mitigate the spread of the COVID virus within the organization.
Randy Wetmore, Bridgeport City Manager, wants people to know that until at least January 17th, they will continue to operate in this manner. “The number of positive COVID cases occurring in the State and Harrison County have caused us to go back to operating as we did for part of March, all of April, and May,” Wetmore said.
The front doors of City Hall will be closed as they were in the spring. Staff is available by phone during normal working hours to answers questions, issue permits, etc.
Just a reminder, there are a number of ways people can pay their city bills. Water Bills can be paid over the phone by credit/debit card, online, or by dropping payment in the box on the front porch. Residents can also utilize the drop boxes in our parking lot, in front of the library, or at the fire department. B&O/Business Licenses and Building Permits can be paid by phone using credit/debit cards, or by mailing a check. Tax, business license, and building permit forms are available on our web site, www.bridgeportwv.com.
Even with the short term reduction in on-site staffing, services will continue to be provided as the community has come to expect.
Department Heads and city staff have done a great job in making sure that we are able to respond to service needs as they arise. The Police and Fire Departments are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as are other departments. If you have a police or fire emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
