City of Bridgeport Announces Revised Certification Date for Election Canvass Due to Upcoming Holidays

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 11, 2025

The City of Bridgeport announces a revision to the scheduled certification date for the canvass of the June 10, 2025, municipal election due to the observance of upcoming holidays and the intervening weekend.

Originally planned for June 20, 2025, the canvass certification will now take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. This change accommodates the observance of West Virginia Day on Friday, June 20. This is a recognized state holiday, during which municipal offices will be closed. Additionally, with the weekend immediately following, this revised date ensures compliance with legal requirements while allowing for adequate administrative preparation.

The City of Bridgeport has consulted with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office and has confirmed that the revised schedule aligns with state guidelines and election laws. The adjustment has been made in accordance with the advice and approval received from state election officials.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to note the new date and are assured that all procedures related to the canvass will continue to be conducted with the highest standards of accuracy and transparency.

For additional information regarding the election or the canvassing process, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at (304) 842-8235 or lrogers@bridgeportwv.gov.
