City of Bridgeport Municipal Election 2025 Results

The Bridgeport City Council will have a new look when members are sworn in after or on July 1 following Tuesday’s Municipal Election.

Matheny captured the race with 1,331 votes. Rice finished the election with 498 votes. Matheny won all five precincts.
“It’s extremely humbling,” said Matheny. “The opportunity to serve in this capacity in this particular community at this particular time is an outstanding opportunity personally. I can’t wait to work for this community.”
Rice will maintain his seat on City Council for the remainder of his four-year term. He has two years remaining on Council.
In the race for three open seats on City Council, all the seats will be filled with two newcomers and an incumbent. Jaclyn Rominger led the ticket with 1,326 votes and will serve her first term in public office. Rominger won all five precincts.
“I’m so humbled and grateful for this opportunity,” said Rominger. “I was impressed with the higher voter turnout and to get such support from those voting was overwhelming. I’m ready and excited to get to work for the City of Bridgeport.”
Another Council winner was newcomer Chris Kinney. Kinney, also a newcomer to the political scene, finished with 853 votes.
“This means the world to me. The whole reason I ran is that I love this town and it’s why I moved back here … To have the opportunity to give back to the community and have that many people provide the support was pleasantly surprising,” said Kinney. “I didn’t expect to finish second in the race, and I don’t think that’s possible without my mother and father … The family and friend support proved important and encouraging. It puts the pressure on to do right by them and by this community, and that’s my intention.”
Incumbent Jason Campbell will be back for his second four-year term. Campbell finished the race with 837 votes.
“This first four years were like a learning curve where I learned a lot. These next fours I’m really excited, particularly to with (former) Sheriff (Robert) Matheny as mayor,” said Campbell “I think the results tonight basically said the citizens of Bridgeport really wanted change.”
In fourth place was Joe Earley. Earley had 603 votes, while Jesse Isner had 568 votes. Long-time Council member and incumbent John Wilson finished with 434 votes.
Bridgeport had 1865 of 7074 registered voters show up at the polls Tuesday. That equates to 26.4 percent.
