Clarksburg Police Department Patrolman First Class Zachary Iseli was recently presented with the Department Commendation Award for an incident while off duty.

On Feb. 28, 2025, Iseli, while off-duty, was working out prior to his shift at WV Fitness located in Clarksburg. During his workout he was interrupted by a subject who began to act erratic and was rolling around on the floor, slamming his body into fitness equipment and yelling at Iseli's and other individuals’ faces.
Iseli identified himself as a police officer and attempted to calm this person and have him leave the facility with the people he arrived with. Suddenly, this subject ran across the room and got into another person's face while they were working out and pulled their headphones and mask off. When this person tried to flee the room, the subject grabbed them by the head.
Multiple people started to leave the room due to the subject's behavior. At this time Iseli intervened, placing the subject on the ground and handcuffing him to stop him from assaulting anyone else until on-duty officers arrived.
Iseli received his award from Clarksburg Police Chief Mark Kiddy (shown to the left in the photo).
