Another major bridge project is coming to the City of Clarksburg in the next few months, according to information from the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways.
Recently, the WVDOH announced that IVS Hydro Inc. will be overseeing a near $2 million projected on the PFC Hotty Herrick Bridge in Clarksburg. IVS will be doing a rehabilitation project as the low bidder on the work, which has an exact price tag of $1,908,834.48.
The bridge in question connects the Broad Oaks part of Clarksburg to the Broadway area of the city. It goes across the Elk Creek past Hardee’s along East Main Street and ends just prior to the Broadway Kompak store.
“There are various concrete repairs on piers and abutments, expansion joint replacement, deck concrete resurfacing, along with cleaning and painting steel beams and other members,” said Jason Nelson, P.E., the construction engineer for WVDOH District 4 located in Bridgeport.
The exact starting time is not listed, but Nelson said it is planned to begin this spring. The completion date is listed as Dec. 26.
The multi-month project will involve some traffic delays. Nelson said the project will feature temporary signal controlling that will allow one lane of traffic at a time during structure repair and deck overlay.
There will be another street impacted, but only on occasion. Nelson said there will be, as needed, one lane closures on Tuna Street, which is below the bridge.
