DHHR Reports 285 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 4,809; State Deaths at 2,274

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 23) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 129,854 to 130,139; an increase of 285.
Tuesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,127,566 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given was 5.50 percent. The daily percent positive is at 3.32 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 4,809 (3,406 confirmed cases, 1,403 probable cases), 517 active cases, and 70 deaths with 4,222 recoveries.
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.
The total number of deaths related to the virus has increased from 2,263 to 2,274.
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of an 83-year old female from Wyoming County, a 60-year old female from Mercer County, an 86-year old female from Randolph County, a 59-year old male from Lewis County, a 75-year old male from Preston County, a 79-year old male from Mercer County, a 77-year old female from McDowell County, an 86-year old female from Lewis County, a 103-year old male from Mercer County, a 70-year old female from Mercer County, and a 70-year old female from Mingo County.
“Today is another difficult day in our fight against COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “As we work to slow the growth of this virus in West Virginia, we extend our deepest sympathies to these families.”
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 119,337 with active cases at 8,528.
According to the DHHR site, there are 296 hospitalizations as of Feb. 22.
