DHHR Reports 289 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 5,605; State Deaths at 2,686

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Monday, May 3) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 153,918 to 154,207, an increase of 289.
 
Monday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,740,117 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.151 percent. The daily percent positive is at 6.63 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 5,605 (3,925 confirmed cases,1,680 probable cases), 102 active cases, and 74 deaths with 5,429 recoveries.
 
Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. 
 
The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus remains at 2,686.
 
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 144,310 with active cases at 7,201. 
 
According to the DHHR site, there are 224 hospitalizations as of April 30.
