A structure fire in the region was heavily damaged in a late afternoon blaze Sunday, Feb. 1 where cold temperatures complicated matter.
According to a Facebook post by the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department, they responded that day at 4:36 p.m. on Saltlick Road. Fire personnel needed to secure water supply for the structure and utilized Saltlick Creek due to no hydrant access on Saltlick Road.

The attack of the fire was prioritized in the kitchen area. Aurora VFD and Terra Alta SEM were also on the scene.

According to the post, decreasing temperatures through the evening led to all crews on the scene dealing with multiple frozen pieces of equipment from gauges to gear. Fire crews were on the scene for nearly four hours.
