Four-Vehicle Wreck on Interstate 68 Sees Pair Taken for Treatment, Traffic Woes in Monongalia County

Today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Monongalia County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a four-vehicle collision on Interstate 68 Westbound at mile marker 10 (Cheat Lake Bridge).
The accident began when a Jeep lost control and struck the median, causing traffic to slow abruptly. A dump truck then collided with two of the slowing vehicles.
Two individuals were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Assisting agencies included Mon EMS, Brookhaven Fire Department, and the WVDOT. I-68 in the area of the accident is now open and no further information is available at this time.
