Free Entertainment, Food, Drinks, Fireworks, and More on Tap as City Police Prep for National Night Out

One of the biggest events annually in the City of Bridgeport has been set and thousands of individuals are expected to be on hand.
Bridgeport Police Chief Mark Rogers said that National Night Out in Bridgeport will be held Tuesday, August 4 starting at 6 p.m. He said it will be held outdoors at The Bridge Sports and Recreation Complex.
This year, Rogers said they will be teaming up with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. The event is a community-building campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and local law enforcement. And Rogers plans on that happening.
“We want people that see an officer or a deputy to please ask us questions they may have, inquire about what we do and how we do,” said Rogers. “We’re encouraging anyone to come up and start a conversation so we can get to know people throughout the local community.”
Although the lineup and entertainment have not all been announced, Rogers did have some early details to provide. There will be bounce houses, an obstacle course, slides, and the introduction of a mechanical bull.
There will also be free food, drinks, and entertainment. Rogers said Eighty’s Enough will be performing and he’s encouraging individuals to bring their chairs to sit back, relax, and enjoy the entertainment.
“It is always a fun evening,” said Rogers, who said there will likely be other state and federal agencies tied into law enforcement on hand. “We’re glad to have a prominent presence of the Sheriff’s Office. Although they typically have staff involved, Sheriff 
(Robert) Matheny (II) and I were talking and decided to team up. It’s going to be a nice evening.”

The only thing that could put a damper on things is inclement weather. However, Rogers said it would have to be severe to get canceled.
“Once again, we’ll have a fireworks show to conclude the evening,” said Rogers.
