GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport Hosts Baby Shower for WVU Medicine Children's Hospital

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 11, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Members of GFWC Woman's Club of Bridgeport poured into the Benedum Civic Center Thursday morning with baby gifts in hand. The many sleepers, onsies, blankets and other items collected are to be donated to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital. The shower, which also included games and prizes, the making of fleece tie blankets and a soup luncheon, was organized by Shirley Hadorn, GFWC state president's special project chair for the Bridgeport club. The state president's statewide project is WVU Medicine Children's.

Guest speaker was Rhonda Vance of Shinnston, who shared a story about the excellent care that WVU Children's Hospital provided to her now 28-year-old son who, as a newborn was flown to the facility for a heart defect, and her grandson, who was hospitalized at two days old with seizures and spent more than a week in the NICU. The baby still gets regular checkups with the neurology, genetics, ophthalmology and pediatric departments of the WVU Children's. She appreciates the club's work to benefit the hospital.

Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to donate baby items for the cause. Tags must be left on all items. Please call 304-842-8310 if you would like to help.
