A heavily traveled intersection in Harrison County in Clarksburg is set to see a traffic signal replacement start in the months ahead and it comes with a price tag in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Recently, the West Virginia Division of Highways Announced that Davis H. Elliot Construction Company Inc. was the low bidder on a traffic
signal project at the intersection of Davisson Run and US Route 19 (also West Virginia Route 98) with a bid of $335,130.50.
signal project at the intersection of Davisson Run and US Route 19 (also West Virginia Route 98) with a bid of $335,130.50.
This project will be like the one done last year at the Main Street and Virginia Avenue intersection. That project was not just an upgrade.
“The is a complete upgrade and replacement of signal poles and foundations, signal heads, wiring, traffic detectors, signal controllers, other electronics, and more,” said Jason Nelson, P.E., the construction engineer for WVDOH District Four. “(The project) also includes replacement of traffic markings for lanes leading to the new signal.”
The starting time for the project is not etched in stone. Nelson said it will be this year, but the time is currently listed as spring or summer.
The completion date is more settled. It is listed as November of 2026. And there will be some minor issues with traffic in the area.
“There are expected to be minimal traffic disruption, some flagging as needed,” said Nelson.
