Johnson Students Show Police Appreciation with Free Beverage, Support on National Coffee with a Cop Day

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 01, 2025

It is National Coffee with a Cop Day and the first grade students in Mrs. Mallory Pritchard’s Johnson Elementary School class made sure the Bridgeport Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office knew they were appreciated.

From 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. today, officers from Bridgeport and the county were able to drive up and get a cup of coffee. And they were greeted with more than a warm cup of joe.

Students went all out to make sure they could show their appreciation. They placed banners and signs along the route.  The also gave officers coloring pages and plenty of thank yous.

"Something as small as a cup of coffee could make a person's day,” said Pritchard, who added the program centered around classroom lessons on the importance of community gratitude.

Johnson Elementary also thanked the Bridgeport McDonald’s. The company donated cups, coffee, cream, and sugar.

Check out dozens of photos in the gallery below.
