Area first responders arrived at the scene of possible commercial fire at a restaurant Sunday, March 1.
According to the Valley Volunteer Fire Department, the call came in at 10:38 a.m. The restaurant was the Dairy Queen on the grounds of the Middletown Commons site in White Hall. The report called in was for a kitchen fire inside the establishment.
Upon arrival, the Valley VFD said that the employees had knocked out the fire with an extinguisher. However, there was still plenty of smoke inside the building.
Fire personnel, including those from Valley and the Monongah Volunteer Fire Department, worked in ventilating the smoke from the building. They also checked the building to make sure no fire extensions took place from the initial blaze.
The scene was placed under control within the first few minutes.
