A long-standing tradition at Bridgeport High School will continue at the 2022 graduation ceremony at Wayne Jamison Field thanks to the vote of the school’s faculty.

 

The school has once again chosen the senior class representatives and Mr. and Miss BHS. Today, a look at the profiles of this year’s representatives who are Olivia Noonan and Reese Allen.

 

As is the case with Mr. and Miss BHS, which will be released tomorrow on Connect-Bridgeport, the individuals are chosen based on academics, character, leadership, as well as involvement in the school and the community. The pair will get to address those gathered for the May 28 graduation.

 

Here are the profiles as submitted by the students.

 

OLIVIA NOONAN

 

“Throughout my experience at Bridgeport High School, I am grateful for the people that decided to make me who I am today, including the theater and band. The theater taught me to take risks, to throw everything on the line for even just one night, to sing and laugh and let your voice be heard. The band taught me to make mistakes as proudly as possible, to learn from them, and to fill the stands with music.

 

“I am also grateful for the staff, who lent their time and knowledge to help students grow and am honored to have been chosen as class representative.

 

“Here at Bridgeport High School, I found my voice and will continue to make my voice mean something to make a difference int eh world. I plan to study English at WVU in the fall as recipient of the Neil S. Bucklew Scholarship.”

 

REESE ALLEN

 

Throughout his time at Bridgeport High School, Reese Allen participated in a large variety of school organizations and activities. A member of the BHS Band and pervious member of the percussion ensemble, Allen was selected as the 2021-22 drum major from the position of acting drum captain and has led the band through a multitude of football games and parades.

 

Allen spent time on stage throughout his high school years in such productions as Narnia, Charlotte’s Web, Seussical the Musical, and High School Musical, entertaining as numerous characters: from Dr. Seuss’s Cat in the Hat to Disney’s Troy Bolton.

 

As president of the BHS National Honor Society and member of community-based youth organizations, Allen made significant contributions of service and helped to organize events. As an AP Scholar and high achieving student, he was also on the BHS varsity soccer team and was a BHS swim team qualifier and relay titleholder.

 

Reese also works under Brad Ford at the Ford Funeral Home and as a lifeguard in coordination with The Bridge Sports Complex. Reese will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in data science at West Virginia University.

 

Concerning the BHS teachers and administrator, Allen appreciates their ongoing support and the rich opportunities that allowed him to grow and succeed. A recipient of the Bucklew Scholarship at West Virginia University and a candidate for the honor of Presidential Scholar, Reese Allen is grateful for the support that BHS has provided as he looks forward to the future.
