One Person Transported after Two-Vehicle Accident on Main Street in Front of Bridgeport Municipal Complex

The Bridgeport Fire Department was joined by the Bridgeport Police Department in response to a two-vehicle accident on Main Street Monday afternoon.
Getting to the scene proved to be easy for the police department. According to Bridgeport Fire Chief Greg Pigg, the accident took place in the turn by the Bridgeport Municipal Complex and directly in front of the section where the entrance to the police parking lot is situated.
Harrison-Taylor 911 reported the incident as taking place at 1:14 p.m. The call was for a motor-vehicle accident with injury.
As it turned out, there was one injury. Pigg said the driver of one of the vehicles was transported to United Hospital Center.
“The injuries were non-life threatening,” said Pigg. “The driver of the other vehicle signed off on being transported.”
Pigg said the incident involved a pickup truck and a box truck. He said the pickup truck suffered damage to the front end and was removed from the roadway and placed into the parking lot of the Bridgeport Police Department.
It was the driver of the pickup truck that was transported for treatment, Pigg added. He also said the box truck was able to be driven with light damage.
Traffic was only an issue between five and 10 minutes, Pigg said. First responders quickly cleared the road and traffic resumed as normal.
The Bridgeport Police are investigating.
