Parks and Rec Getting into Halloween Spirit with first-ever Boo-Thru

By Chris Johnson on October 17, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department is not letting the COVID-19 pandemic ruin its Halloween spirit.

Parks and Rec will be hosting a Boo-Thru on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Bridgeport Rec Complex.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. (or while supplies last, whichever comes first).

“We know that COVID has affected many of our usual events including our Haybales Fall Festival,” Recreation Coordinator Katie Squire said. “We felt it was still important to provide a fall activity for our community.”

Treat bags will be handed out containing fun activities that kids can do at home with their parents along with candy. Kids must be present to receive a gift bag (cannot give more than the number of kids in the vehicle).

It is a first come, first serve line and quantities are limited to the first 300 kids present.

We ask that all who join us please remain in their vehicles and our staff will come to them.

Signs will be in place to direct cars once they enter the Rec Complex parking lot, please follow to ensure the safety of Parks staff and other vehicles.

“Our Boo-Thru is simple, drive by and pick up a fun goodie bag of activities and treats,” Squires said.  “We included some fun crafts that kids can complete at home including a magnetic picture frame along with a color your own superhero mask and a coloring book.”

Editor's Note: Submitted photo of what one of the gift bags looks like that the Parks and Recreation Department will be handing out at the Boo-Thru.
