The Federal Bureau of Investigations conducted an operation this morning inside the city limits of Bridgeport, Chief Mark Rogers confirmed. Other than, there is little more information available for public consumption he said.
What is known is that it took place at a residence in the Meadow Creek Subdivision. Multiple media outlets reported that it occurred at a unit on Mimosa Lane.
Initial reports came out around 9 a.m. this morning.
Rogers said he had no information on the situation. He also confirmed that the Bridgeport Police Department was not involved.
Attempts to reach Brian Hefner, the resident agent in charge of the Clarksburg Field Office, were unsuccessful. However, a public affairs officer from the Pittsburgh FBI office said he would try to provide information. At 2:16 p.m. today, Friday, April 17, the following statement arrived via email from Bradford Arick, Public Affairs Specialist, with the FBI in Pittsburgh.
"The FBI and our partners conducted an authorized federal search warrant at an address in the area of Bridgeport, West Virginia this morning. There was no threat to public safety. As this activity is connected to an open and ongoing investigation, FBI policy does not permit me to release any further details at this time."
