Roundabout Records is Open in New Location on East Main

With a week under his belt at his new location, Chris Lacaria is adapting and is adamant that Roundabout Records will be a continued success.
“I’m confident that Roundabout Records will still do great things,” he said. “This shop is what we call a collector’s dream. It has all the top-notch classic rock must-haves down to the super rare stuff you would never expect to see in person.”
Some of those rare, obscure titles include Dexter Wansel, Life on Mars and The Beatles White Album Mono, British Press.
In mid-July, the well-known record shop moved from 103 West Main Street to 103 East Main Street, just next door and on the east side of Center Street. Formerly in a basement location, Roundabout Records is now on the top floor with store entrance and ample parking in the rear of the building.
Although there are some perks about the new spot, Lacaria said he is adapting to having less space for inventory.
“With the space I have now, I’m focusing on being a shop that is more boutique-oriented and specialize in carrying essentials, but more geared to rare and obscure titles,” Lacaria said.
Roundabout Records opened in 2022

“It all started in August of ’22 with a single crate of records for sale at SunmoonApparel,” Lacaria said. “In December of 2022, we opened upstairs inside Market on Main.”
The progression continued.
“In October of 2023 we moved to the basement of Market on Main and in April of ’24 we opened a third room and in July of ’24 we opened a fourth room,” he said.
When starting into the business, Lacaria had no idea how fast word would spread that he was selling and buying quality vinyl.
“If you have a quality collection, I have no problem paying top dollar,” he said. “I’ll tell you what it’s worth and what I plan to sell it for, then make you an offer.”
Lacaria explained his passion for the business.
“I just love music and love being able to take music that doesn’t have a home anymore and find that person who just picked it up and love it. I feel like I am more or less running an orphanage for music,” he said.
In addition to placing music in the hands of those who love it, Lacaria feels he has boosted self-confidence in some of the young people who have worked at the record shop or contributed artwork.
He looks forward to what this new chapter will bring. In the meantime, business has been slow, but steady. Whether they are locals, those traveling here to visit the store or simply traveling through the area and run across Roundable Records, customers typicall find what they’re looking for.
Roundabout Records is open 12-7 p.m. daily. As Lacaria is a substitute schoolteacher, hours will be adjusted when school is back in session.
“Once school starts, I’ll be open 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11-7 Saturday and Sunday," he said.
